If you are like us, your family may be pretty familiar with pizza! This activity shape is fun because who doesn’t love making pizza? Have your toddler make these shape pizzas. What you Need
Preparation
Make shape pizzas starting with the shapes your toddler is learning. We started with a circle, square, triangle and rectangle shaped pizzas. A square pizza will be used as an example.
Start by cutting a square out of tan construction paper (this is the crust).
Trace that square onto red construction paper (this is the sauce) and then cut that square just a little smaller than the one you traced.
Next, trace the red square onto yellow construction paper (this is the cheese). Cut the yellow square a bit smaller than the one traced on the paper.
Finally, glue the pieces together so it looks like a square pizza.
Repeat those instructions with the other three basic shapes.
If you are doing this with preschool class, make a shape pizza of all eight shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, heart, star and diamond).
How to Play
Put two shape pizzas on the table at a time. If your toddler is a little older you can put down all four. Get out the matching pepperoni from the cutting practice post.
Have your child glue the correct shaped pepperoni to the matching shape pizza. This is a fun matching game that your toddler will love and relate to, especially if they love pepperoni pizza! This is a great way to teach shapes.
