How can I teach my child sight words in a fun way?

Today I’ll be showing you how I do a 2nd week of this curriculum with Little Bear. If you missed week 1, be sure to check it out.
We start by getting out Little Bear’s sight word notebook. This notebook has the weekly schedules (with the current week’s schedule in front) in the front pocket. I also usually have some handwriting pages in there that are unrelated to the curriculum. There is also a pencil pouch with colored pencils, regular pencils, the flashcards for the week, and the emergent reader (simple book) for the week. After the pencil pouch are a bunch of sheet protectors which hold all of the activities for the week. I organize these beforehand so they are all in order and easy to pull out and do.
We start each day by reading through the flashcards and then reading the emergent reader for the week. The emergent readers always include the sight words for the week. After we finish reading through those, Little Bear does two sight word activities from the curriculum. He always does one activity that is sensory/exploratory based and one activity that is writing based. This gives him lots of practice seeing and recognizing the words as well as lots of practice writing the words.
There are 30 activities for each set of words, but I only do 10 activities for each set of words with Little Bear. That way, we do different activities for 3 weeks, but also have new words each week. Feel free to adapt the curriculum in any way that you choose. Here is what week 2 looks like for us.
